Featured bands, in order of appearance, will be:
- mötæ (Corvallis, Oregon) ― Latin, jazz and world-influenced progressive rock –Pulled from many different old-world and classical ideals, mötæ's music is colored with a bold edge and modern instrumentation. Their music is a collaborative expression of the members' emotional convictions.
- Open-Fate (Bend, Oregon) ― Alternative rock – This three-member band is drawing crowds and excellent responses as they play throughout the region. Music is a part of who they are and they hope to gain new fans in Salem.
- Foxtrot (Salem, Oregon) ― Indie orchestral rock – Using non-traditional song-writing techniques, Foxtrot aims to break the mold and capture the imagination of musicians and music-lovers alike.
- Cathedra (Salem, Oregon) ― Hard rock/metal - With dynamic original songs that range from hard-edged assaults to lighter melodic arrangements, Cathedra's high-energy sound and performance is taking the area by storm.
The Battle of the Bands has been a sell-out crowd favorite since its very first year. Each band plays a 20-minute set of original music. At the end of the night, a winner will be chosen based on a combination of scoring by a panel of guest judges and a decibel reading of crowd response. The winner will be featured in a fully produced showcase concert in March 2011.
The World of Music at the Library series is sponsored by the Salem Public Library Foundation and Friends of Salem Public Library.
