SALEM POLICE INVESTIGATE SERIOUS MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH.

On July 4, 2012 at 1:45 a.m.; officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle accident at Commercial St SE and Wiltsey Rd SE. Upon their arrival, they found one driver, Mark Hannon (42 yrs.) trapped inside of his 2003 Ford Taurus 4-door sedan. The Salem Fire Department had to extricate Mr. Hannon from his vehicle. Mr. Hannon was transported to Salem Hospital where he is in serious condition with life-threatening injuries. The other driver, Justin Bohnstedt (38 yrs.), received only minor injuries. He was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado truck. The cause determination for the crash is currently under investigation by the Salem Police Department Traffic Control Unit. Commercial Street was closed at the time of the crash and is still closed. It is estimated that it will re-open in approximately 2 hours. No further information at this time.
