Posted: December 1st, 2011 3:20 PM
From Newberg to Eugene, someone is breaking into coin operated washers and dryers to steal the coins. According to Shawn Brown of Coin Meter Company, they have had 118 machines broken into since the end of summer. Brown said about seventy of those occurred in the Salem area. He said their competitor, Mac Grey, is experiencing similar thefts.
Residents of apartment complexes are asked to keep an eye out for strangers around their laundry rooms. Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to telephone Salem Police detectives at (503)588-6050.
