Salem Public Library launches new Teen Book Group

New on the scene for middle and high school youth is a book discussion
group just for teens, facilitated by library staff.

The Speak Up! Book Club kicks off in April with a multi-month focus on
international settings and adventures. The first book to be discussed is
"Escape Under the Forever Sky" by Eve Yohalem.

The Speak Up! Book Club will meet:
6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 26
in the new Teen Scene at Salem Public Library, 585 Liberty St. SE.
Free and open to middle or high school student interested in a lively
discussion of interesting books

"Escape Under the Forever Sky" is an exciting story set in Ethiopia
where Lucy, 13-year-old daughter of the United States Ambassador, is
kidnaped and has to face the realization that her survival will depend
on her own ingenuity and courage.

Information, registration, and copies of the book are available at the
Teen Scene Service Desk or from Teen Services Librarian Sonja Somerville
at 503-588-6083 or ssomerville@cityofsalem.net.
