Thousands of excellent books are waiting in the wings as the Friends of the Salem Public Library prepare for their Fall Book Sale, scheduled for October 14-17 in the lower level meeting rooms at Salem Public Library, 585 Liberty St. SE.

Sale hours are:

5-8 p.m. Thursday, October 14 - Friends Night (members only; memberships available at the door)

10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Friday, October 15 & Saturday, October 16

1-4:30 p.m. Sunday, October 17 - $3 Bag Day!

Prices are, as always, excellent, with paperbacks and children's books for 50 cents each; hardbacks for $1. A long list of AV items is available, including CDs, tapes, records, videos, posters and more, all for 25 cents each. Romance paperbacks are also 25 cents each.

Also included in this Fall Sale is the Specialty Collection, offering a selection of rare and collectible books and ephemera at special prices as marked. There is also a silent auction offering several interesting titles, including a first-edition hardcover, autographed copy of Sgt. Don Marlarkey's "Easy Company Soldier."

The proceeds of this large-scale volunteer effort are used by the Friends of the Salem Public Library to support special projects and programs at Salem Public Library, including the Summer Reading Club, World of Music at the Library series, Family Festival of the Arts, Discovery Room displays, and the Teen Library currently under development in the library's lower level.

More information about the sale, the book store and the Friends organization is available at 503-362-1755.
