SALEM POLICE INVESTIGATE FATAL TRAFFIC CRASH

Location: Hood St. NE & Church St. NE
Case #12-45221
Deceased driver: Eduardo MAZA-MERAZ, 33 yrs., of Albany, OR.
Vehicle: Grey 2002 Chevy Tahoe SUV
A patrol officer observed the grey Chevy Tahoe traveling southbound on Portland Rd NE at a high rate of speed. The Officer lost sight of the vehicle and began checking the area. A short time later, the vehicle was located near the intersection of Hood St. NE & Church St. NE, where it had crashed into an unoccupied building. The driver was deceased at the traffic crash scene.
Next of kin notification has been made. The Salem Police Traffic Unit responded and will be continuing the crash investigation and reconstruction. At this point the cause of the crash has not been determined.
