Salem Police detectives, The Salem Fire Department, Federal Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms agents, Oregon State Police troopers and the Marion County District Attorney's Office are currently conducting a death investigation of multiple victims. Three young children and an adult female were located deceased in a fire in the 2800 block of Fisher Rd NE in Salem and an adult male was found deceased in a vehicle in Cottage Grove.

The fire was reported shortly before 5:30 am on May 22nd by a neighbor who noticed smoke coming from the residence. As firefighters were attending to the fire in the residence, they located the three young children and the woman and removed them from the house. Evidence located at the scene indicated that the victims died as a result of homicidal violence and firefighters requested the Salem Police Department respond.

Initial investigation into this case led detectives to identify the husband of the deceased female, who is also the father of the deceased children, as a person of interest. At approximately 11:00am on May 22nd, a male was located deceased in a vehicle in the Cottage Grove area. This vehicle is associated with the person of interest in this case, and at this time investigators believe this to be a domestic related murder-suicide situation.

Investigators are still actively following up on leads in this case and are not identifying any of the involved parties at this time. Autopsies will be scheduled for the deceased parties in this case and more information will be released as it becomes available.
