Free kids' activity at the Market on Saturday

The Friends of Salem Saturday Market will host free activities that will allow children to explore their senses at the Salem Saturday Market at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 13.

Kids can come by the FSSM booth to take part in sensory activities that focus on the sights, scents, and textures of the market. Kids can make and take home binoculars created with toilet-paper rolls. There will be a book reading of “Rosie’s Walk,” by Pat Hutchens.  Local Head Start teacher Diane Huber will be hosting the projects.

Additional upcoming free events at the FSSM booth include the annual Tomato Tasting on Aug. 27; the popular local-food demonstration event “Chef @ The Market” on Sept. 10 and Oct. 8; and a free book exchange on Sept. 24.

Friends of Salem Saturday Market is a 501(c)(3) non-profit made up of dedicated volunteers and paid members who are passionate about local farmers’ markets and want to increase awareness of the benefits of living a local and sustainable lifestyle.
