Spring Break fun for children, teens at Salem Public Library

Children, teens, and families looking for Spring Break fun will find it at Salem Public Library, with programs throughout the week. All programs - those for children and teens - are listed below. DIY Comic & Graphic Novels - 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19 in Anderson Rooms A&B - Sometimes, a person just feels like they have a comic book in them, waiting to burst out. All middle and high school-aged youth are invited to participate in this program led by the writers and artists from Corrosive Comics. Trash to Treasure: Elementary Session - 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 22 in Anderson Rooms A&B - Elementary age kids are invited to let their creativity soar as they glue, tie, stack, and twist heaps of recycled materials into amazing new treasures during this fun craft program. Trash to Treasure: Teen Session - 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 22 in Anderson Rooms A&B - With a little creativity, found items and recycled tidbits can be glued, tied, stacked, and twisted into astonishing art. Paperback Book Exchange - 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 23 in Anderson Rooms A&B - This is an all-ages program, with everyone from kids to adults welcome to join in! Each participant can recycle up to 10 gently used paperbacks and get 10 fabulous "new-to-you" books to take home and enjoy. No sign-up is necessary.

 

Lego Extravaganza - 2 p.m Thursday, March 24 in Anderson Rooms A&B - Elementary-aged children are invited to show off their best LEGO building skills. Each contestant is responsible for bringing the LEGOs that they will need; no kits may be used and nothing can be pre-assembled. As creations are completed, the results will be judged based on various criteria, such as creativity, use of color, shape, and height. Teen Trivia Night - 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 24 in Anderson Rooms A&B - It's not enough to just know everything about Glee, Owl City, The Hunger Games, and Shaun White. It's time to turn that interest into fun and prizes. Questions will be drawn from the movies, television, music, books, sports, and more. Anyone can play. Anyone can win. No sign-ups are necessary.

 

High School Musical Fest - Friday, March 25 in Loucks Auditorium - Movies will be: 11 a.m. High School Musical (G; 98 minutes; 2006); 1 p.m. High School Musical 2 (G; 104 minutes; 2007); 3 p.m. — High School Musical 3: Senior Year (G; 112 minutes; 2008). Room Crafts - 3 p.m. Saturday, March 26 in Anderson Rooms A&B at - Bedrooms get a chance at a custom facelift as teens add their personal flair to table top picture frames, unique window accessories, fun note boards, and more.
