Family fun at Salem Public Library - week of August 3

Throughout the summer, children and families are invited to enjoy fun, free programs at Salem Public Library. Programs are offered Tuesday-Friday as part of the 2010 "Make a Splash – READ" Summer Reading Club at the Central Library, 585 Liberty St. SE.

 

Events during the week of August 3 include:

 

TERRIFIC TUESDAYS: Stamp It! Draw It! Wear It! at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 3 in Anderson Rooms A&B at Salem Public Library. School-aged children are invited to awaken the artist within by bringing a white T-shirt, flip-flops, and/or sun visor to customize into unique beachwear. Pre-registration is required at the Youth Services Reference Desk in person or by calling 503-588-6088.

 

SUMMER PERFORMERS: Musician Victor Johnson entertains for the whole family with acoustic music to get toes tapping and hands clapping at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 4 in Loucks Auditorium. Seating is limited. Free tickets are available beginning at 10 a.m. for shows on the same day. Doors open 15 minutes before each show. Tickets are valid only until 10 minutes before performance time.  If seats are not filled at that time, we will open the doors to waiting non-ticket holders. 

 

TEEN SCENE: Pizza Tasting Party, where teens sample pizza from several local pizzerias and vote on their favorites, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, August 5 in Loucks Auditorium at Salem Public Library. Middle and high school students only! Pre-registration is required at 503-588-6088.

 

FRIDAY FILM FEST: "Surf's Up," a stylish CGI movie that looks behind the scenes in the world of championship surfing penguins, at 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 6 in Loucks Auditorium at Salem Public Library. Seating is free on a first-come, first-seated basis. Doors open 15 minutes before showtime.

 

Summer Reading Club programs are sponsored by the Friends of Salem Public Library.
