SALEM FIRE PROMOTES FOUR CAPTAINS

Four members with the Salem Fire Department recently earned promotions to the rank of Captain, following a comprehensive promotional exam process held last month at the department. All four promotions were a result of recent retirements in the department.

Rich Lee will be promoted to the rank of Captain on July 2, 2013, and is assigned to A-Shift. Captain Lee was hired by the Salem Fire Department in July of 2000 and previously served as a Firefighter/Paramedic and Apparatus Operator/Engineer. He also serves on the Salem Police Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team as a SWAT medic, and has held positions of medic evaluator and hazardous materials response team member.

Mike Patrick will be promoted to the rank of Captain on July 2, 2013 and is assigned to A-Shift. Captain Patrick was hired by the Salem Fire Department in 2003 and has served in positions as Firefighter/Paramedic and Apparatus Operator/Engineer. He currently serves on the department's wildland committee, honor guard, and peer support team.

Scott Miller will be promoted to the rank of Captain effective July 3, 2013, and is assigned to B-Shift. Captain Miller was hired by the Salem Fire Department in August of 2000 and has served in positions as Firefighter/Paramedic and Apparatus Operator/Engineer. He also serves on specialty teams within the department including technical rescue and hazardous materials response.

James Trierweiler will be promoted to the rank of Captain on July 4, 2013, and is assigned to C-Shift. Captain Trierweiler was hired by the Salem Fire Department in June of 2005 and previously served as a Firefighter/Paramedic. He also serves on the department's technical rescue team.

A promotional ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at 4:00 p.m., which will be held in front of Fire Station #1, 370 Trade Street SE in Salem.
