News Release from: Salem Police Dept.
SALEM POLICE TOY DRIVE IN ITS 26TH YEAR
Posted: November 21st, 2012 10:17 AM

This week kicks off the 26th year of the Salem Police Department annual Toy Drive. New and unwrapped toys are being accepted for local children ages infant through 12 years.

The drive started in 1986 through the initiative of a Salem officer who wanted to fulfill the wishes of a suicide victim who included his daughter's Christmas list in his belongings. The spirit of giving to those in need continues to this day as the department works with local partners to bring happiness to the children of our community. Toy drop off locations include:

Salem Police Department, 555 Liberty St. SE, Room 130

Cycle Country, 1230 Broadway St. NE

Blanchet Catholic School, 4373 Market St. NE

Additionally, Blanchet students assist with sorting and wrapping the gifts and personalizing them for the children in need.

With holiday sales starting this week, please consider adding a toy for a local child to your shopping list. All donations must be received by December 14.

For more information or to make a monetary donation, contact volunteer coordinator, Jennifer Graber at (503) 588-6499, option 1.
