Salem Police Detectives are requesting assistance from the public in identifying a suspect who stole a wedding ring from Fred Meyers Jewelry Store in Salem on October 11.

The suspect entered the Fred Meyer store located at 3740 Market St NE at approximately 7:00 pm on October 11. He went to the jewelry section of the store and asked to look at various jewelry items. As the clerk was showing him a wedding ring set, the suspect put the ring onto his finger then ran out of the store, getting into a white pickup truck that was apparently waiting in the parking lot. The truck was possibly occupied by two white males.

The suspect is described as a Black Male Adult in his late 20s to early 30s, 5'09"-5'10" with short black hair and the outline of a playboy bunny on his left forearm with other unknown tattoos on his right arm. He was wearing a grey ball cap, black t-shirt, torn blue jeans and white sneakers at the time. He said his name is Mike, but it is unknown if that is his true name.

A surveillance photo of the suspect is attached.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Salem Police Detective Sergeant Ben Bales at 503-588-6050 Ext 7164
