UNIDENTIFIED SUSPECT ATTEMPTS TO PASS COUNTERFEIT MONEY

On Monday, September 10th, at about 8:30 PM, an unidentified male tried to purchase a $500 gift card with counterfeit $20 bills from two different cashiers at the Safeway store, 1300 Center St NE. Both times the clerks refused. The Salem Police is releasing photos of the suspect in hopes the public can assist in identifying him. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Detective Kris Wickman at (503)540-2357.
The Salem Police would like to remind the public they can always go to the department's website and go to "Can You ID Me?" to view photos of persons the department would like to identify. A link to that site is:
