Salem Police Detectives have arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting of Bryan John Lee Knorr, who was shot in the Walmart parking lot early in the morning of September 3.

Salem Police Detectives, assisted by the US Marshal's Service, Washington County Sheriff's Office, Tigard Police Department, Beaverton Police Department and Hillsboro Police Department arrested 41-year old Salem resident Mark Edward Brown without incident in a hotel room in Tigard early in the morning on September 4. Brown will be booked into the Marion County Jail on the charge of Murder.

No further investigative information is being released at this time, and further media releases will be through the Marion County District Attorney's Office, Deputy District Attorney Tiffany Underwood, tunderwood@co.marion.or.us.

The family of the deceased victim who was shot in the parking of the Walmart store located at 1940 Turner Rd SE in Salem has been notified, and detectives are now releasing his identity.

The victim has been identified as 28-year old Bryan John Lee Knorr of Salem.

Salem Police Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident, and anyone with further information on this case is asked to contact the Salem Police Department.

Thus far the investigation has shown that the victim in this shooting (an adult male) had just exited the store when he was confronted by a lone male suspect in the gold SUV. It appears as though the suspect had been waiting for the victim outside of the store. Words were briefly exchanged between the parties, then the victim was shot. He was transported to Salem Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The victim is not being identified at this time.

Salem Police Detectives are currently interviewing witnesses and involved parties and further information will be released as it becomes available.

Salem Police Detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred in the parking lot of the Walmart store at 1940 Turner Rd SE just before 6:00 am on Monday, September 3.

A possible vehicle of interest in this incident is a Honda SUV similar to a CRV. The vehicle is gold or tan in color with a spare tire mounted on the rear. There is a white temporary registration mounted in the rear window and a blue placard mounted where the license plate would normally be displayed.

Anyone with information about this vehicle is asked to call 911 immediately.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
