ROAD RAGE INCIDENT LEADS TO GUNSHOTS FIRED - NO INJURIES, ARRESTS MADE.

Salem Police Patrol Officers responded to a report of a vehicle who fired gunshots near another vehicle, (the victim). The victim called 9-1-1 and provided location updates as they kept the suspect vehicle in sight as it fled. Officers were able to locate the suspect vehicle and conduct an investigation which resulted in arrests and recovery of the handgun.

The investigation revealed that (S) Kylee Spier was driving her vehicle with her husband, (S) Eric Spier and their ten month old child in a car seat as passengers. Near Commercial St. SE and Mission St. SE, they were behind the victims vehicle, which was travelling slow. (S) K. Spier passed the victim vehicle and the two vehicles became involved in a road rage incident, following one another. Both vehicles continued south, to the area of River Rd. S. and Croisian Creek Rd S.

At this point, (S) Eric Spier, removed his wife's handgun from her purse, which she legally owns, and stuck it outside of their vehicle firing several rounds into the ground. The (S)'s then fled in their vehicle, heading south on River Rd.S.

The victim, who called 9-1-1, followed the (S) vehicle, keeping it in sight as location updates were provided to Salem Police Dispatch. The (S) vehicle continued south to the area of River Rd. S. & Riverdale Rd. S., where the victim lost sight of the (S) vehicle for a few minutes, but then saw it come back onto River Rd. S., heading back into Salem. The victim updated their location to Dispatch and Officer's intercepted the (S)vehicle, conducting a traffic stop on 16th Ct. S. near Madrona Ave. S.

Officers recovered the firearm involved. From the investigation, (S) Eric Spier,who is a convicted felon, was charged with multiple offenses and booked into the Marion Co. Jail.
S) Kylee Spier was cited and released for Reckless Driving.

The victim was not injured, nor was their vehicle damaged from the shots fired.

(S) Kylee Spier, 22 yrs. WFA, (dob: 09/14/89), 14 Maple Ct., Independence, OR.
Charge: Reckless Driving (cited & released, driver of vehicle)

(S) Eric Steven Spier, 26yrs. WMA, (dob: 06/03/85), 14 Maple Ct., Independence, OR.
Charges: Felon in Possession of a Firearm
Unlawful Use of a Firearm
Recklessly Endangering Another
Menacing
