Halloween fun is in the air as Salem Public Library gears up for two free events: Ghastly Ghost Tales: A Special Edition Evening Storytime and Ghosts in the Library: A Free Four-Film Marathon of Ghoulish Proportions. Both events are part of the 13 Nights of Halloween in Salem organized by Culture Shock.
Ghastly Ghost Tales will be:
7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, October 21
Loucks Auditorium at Salem Public Library
Pentacle actors Tom Wrosch, Claire Diehl, Erika Zuelke, and Edward Klein will be featured reading four delightful stories whose inspiration comes from beyond the grave.
- "The Boarded Window" by Ambrose Bierce
- "Long Distance Call" by Richard Matheson
- "Ghost Hunter" by Sydney J. Bounds
- "The Wrong Grave" by Kelly Link
To help everyone get in the Halloween mood, Salem Public Library will show four otherworldly movies on the weekend before Halloween. Films included will be:
10 a.m. Ghostbusters (PG; 1984)
12 noon Field of Dreams (PG; 1989)
2 p.m. The Sixth Sense (PG-13; 1989)
4 p.m. Ghost (PG-13; 1990)
