Healthcare Debate Salem Oregon

With decisions being made about the rules of healthcare happening in our nation's capitol, here is some of the discussions we're having on the streets of Salem about the issue.

This video is from the 20th of March at Riverfront Park in downtown Salem. There was also a small group of Tea Party folks on the steps of the capitol protesting the passage of the legislation. Protesters held up signs which read, "kill the bill" and "Freedom March."  Salem has always been a political town with the demographics split pretty evenly between Democrats and Republicans. Where do you stand on the on the healthcare debate?

  1. These people are sadly misinformed, and definitely rude, having witnessed them at a couple of Town Halls in which they refused to allow others to even hear the elected official. I think I prefer the Coffee Party!

  2. I'll tell you where I definitely DON'T stand, and that's alongside people who resort to throwing bricks through windows, cutting gas lines to people's homes, and mailing death threats to opposing party members.

That being said, I'm not very keen on this bill. It is NOT reform, but it's also not a Socialist take-over either. Band-aids, band-aids, and more band-aids..

That being said, lol, there are certain things that the American people are gonna love once they see the effects: no more pre-existing conditions, no more insurance recision, etc. BUT nowhere in this bill is any legislation that regulates cost control, so naturally we will still watch our premiums go up & up and eventually the blame will fall on the Democrats shoulders.

    Great.
