Independence Police Department officers arrested two suspects wanted for last Saturday's homicide at the Londonaire Apartments located at 955 Concord St NE. Eddie Lopez, 23 years of age; and his brother Lorenzo Lopez-Gordillo, 22 years of age, were spotted by Independence Police walking along Monmouth Avenue at about 1:00 this afternoon. The pair had been sought by Salem Police detectives for the murder of 23 year old Charlie Rivera. The two brothers had been living in Gervais at the time of the murder. Salem Police detectives, assisted by the Salem Police SWAT Team, had served a search warrant at their Gervais residence last Tuesday morning; however, the brothers were not there.

On Saturday, September 7th, at approximately 3:45 AM, Salem Police officers responded to the Londonaire Apartments in response to a report of shots being fired. They discovered Rivera had been shot while sitting in his parked vehicle. Rivera was transported to Salem Hospital with life threatening injuries. He died of his injuries later that evening.

Eddie Lopez and Lorenzo Lopez-Gordillo will be booked into the Marion County Jail charged with Murder. Their arraignment will be at the Marion County Jail Annex on Monday at 3:00 PM. Any further press releases concerning this crime will come from the Marion County District Attorney's Office.
