Salem Police SWAT Standoff ends peacefully.

SALEM POLICE SWAT STANDOFF ENDS PEACEFULLY.

The Salem Police Department SWAT Team responded to 1056 7th Ave NW in Salem to assist the Marion County Sheriff's Office regarding a suspect, who had barricaded himself inside a residence at that location. The suspect, Kevin Magness (50 yrs. old), had several Marion County Circuit Court felony warrants for his arrest. The warrants were for Kidnapping 2nd Degree (2 counts), Robbery 1st Degree, Unlawful Use of A Weapon, Menacing, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth), Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Theft 1st Degree, Hit & Run (Property Damage)-2 counts, Criminal Trespass 1st Degree, Felon in Possession of a Restricted Weapon, and Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree. The standoff began shortly after 8:00 p.m. and ended at 3:00 a.m. after Crisis Negotiators were able to talk Kevin Magness into surrendering. All inquiries are being referred to the Marion County Sheriff's Office.
