Police Investigate Stabbing Incident

POLICE INVESTIGATE STABBING INCIDENT

Charges stemming from this incident are as follows:

Meshell, Aloyisus Virgil...Assault I, Assault II, Menacing, Unlawful Use of a Weapon (3 counts), and Parole Violation.

Graham, Katrica Dean...Assault IV.

Both are being lodged in the Polk County Jail.

Occ time/date: 4:10pm, Thurs. 2/16/12
Location: Wallace Marine Park, 200 Glen Creek Rd. NW (on a foot path,near the ramp leading to the pedestrian bridge)

At 4:10pm, Salem Patrol Officers responded to a report of a stabbing incident which occurred at Wallace Marine Park. Responding Officers located a male adult victim who had sustained multiple stab wounds. The male adult suspect had fled the area on foot, but Officers located him a short distance away and took him into custody within 17 minutes of the reported crime.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the male suspect and his girlfriend had been drinking in the park when they saw the male victim and his girlfriend walking nearby. The suspect called the two over to join them. Shortly thereafter, the two females got into a physical fight. The male suspect then pulled a pocket knife which he had and assaulted the male victim, stabbing him in the neck and other areas.

Upon arrival of Officers, they immediately started first aid to the victim who was seriously injured. Once Medics were on scene, the victim was determined to have potentially life threatening injuries from the stab wounds. The victim was transported to Salem Hospital where his condition has been stabilized and upgraded to non-life threatening injuries.

Criminal Detectives responded to continue the investigation. Traffic Unit Officers also responded initially and continue to assist in crime scene diagramming.

The male suspect has been identified as:
Aloyisus MESHELL, wma, 37yrs. (dob: 03/26/74), transient

The male victim has been identified as:
Geoffrey MOSS, wma, 47 yrs. (dob:09/03/63), transient

This investigation is continuing. Criminal charges have not been determined at this point as Detectives are continuing the investigation.
