Winter Break programs at Salem Public Library

Throughout the cold days of winter break, children and families will find plenty of warm holiday and winter fun inside Salem Public Library, 585 Liberty St. SE. All programs are free. Pre-registration is sometimes required, as noted below, at the Youth Services Reference Desk or by phone at 503-588-6088. • Snip, Snap and Wrap - a last minute holiday gifts craft program - 2-3 p.m. Tuesday, December 21 in Anderson Rooms A&B. For children ages 5 and older only. Pre-registration required.

• Holiday Extravaganza with crafts, caroling and a special visitor from the North Pole - 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, December 22 in Anderson Rooms A&B. All ages. Pre-registration required.

• Free family movie: Elf – The Movie – 2-4 p.m. Thursday, December 23 in Loucks Auditorium. Open on a first-come, first-seated basis.

• Candy Land Live – craft and game activities inside a life-sized Candyland – 2-3 p.m. Tuesday December 28 in Anderson Rooms A&B. For children ages 4 and older only. Pre-registration required.

• Book Bingo – book-based game with books for prizes! – 2-3 p.m. Wednesday, December 29 in Anderson Rooms A&B. For children preschool-aged and older only; non-readers will need a "reader helper." Pre-registration required.

• Family Gaming Day – video and board games for families to play together - 2-4 p.m. Thursday, December 30 in Anderson Rooms A&B. All ages. Pre-registration required.

• Children's New Year's Eve Party! – with noisemakers, hats, and fortune-tellers - 2-3 p.m. Friday, December 31 in Anderson Rooms A&B. Ages 4 and older only. Pre-registration required.
