MALE DIES WHILE REPAIRING TRUCK.

On Thursday, August 8, 2013, at 9:50 p.m., Salem Police responded to Coleman's Transport at 4370 Turner Rd SE on a report of a male being struck by a truck. When officers arrived, they found a male identified as Gary Coleman (59 years old) deceased underneath a semi-truck/tractor in the gravel lot at that location.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Mr. Coleman was repairing a 1981 Freightliner semi-truck and had started the engine remotely from outside of the truck. The truck was parked alongside of another semi-truck and trailer. The truck that Mr. Coleman was repairing apparently was in gear and began moving forward. Mr. Coleman attempted to enter the truck to stop it when he fell and was run over by the truck. The incident is being investigated by the Salem Police Department's Traffic Control Unit. No further information.
