Events during the week of June 21 include:
SUMMER PERFORMERS: The Reptile Man – THREE SHOWS! – at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 23 in Loucks Auditorium at Salem Public Library. Richard Ritchey aka "The Reptile Man" awes and amazes audiences with fascinating information about the reptiles and amphibians that he brings to the program. Seating is limited. Free tickets are available beginning at 10 a.m. for shows on the same day. Doors open 15 minutes before each show. Tickets are valid only until 10 minutes before performance time. If seats are not filled at that time, we will open the doors to waiting non-ticket holders.
TEEN SCENE: Fear Factor Food Challenge from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 24 in Loucks Auditorium at Salem Public Library. Middle and high school students are invited to be contestants, challenging themselves to stomach clam juice, crickets, pickled pig's feet, and more. Audience members are also welcome. Competitors MUST bring a signed parental consent form, which is available at the Youth Services Reference Desk or online at www.salemlibrary.org. Pre-registration is recommended at 503-588-6088.
FRIDAY FILM FEST: "Flipper" starring Elijah Wood at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 25 in Loucks Auditorium at Salem Public Library. Seating is free on a first-come, first-seated basis. Doors open 15 minutes before showtime.
Summer Reading Club programs are sponsored by the Friends of Salem Public Library. More information about these programs and programs offered throughout the summer is available at www.salemlibrary.org, in the library's monthly newsletter, or from the Youth Services Division at 503-588-6088.
